Why the **** didn't I roll a Shadowknight? I honestly just thought of it 5 minutes before I left work. I guess now the whole "been there done that" is setting in since I know what happens next. It seemed a natural fit for the TLP servers so I rolled one and now I'm level 14. Hit lvl 65, did the AA thing, tanked some group dungeons here and there and even some light raids. I recently just started on the TLP servers and rolled a Paladin. This subreddit is devoted to EverQuest, the best MMORPG of all time!īe civil to each other, that is to say please refrain from using hateful language toward others. Instead, one would acquire the lock only for the purpose of accessing the shared resource. For example, one would normally not write code that acquires a lock, then loads half a megabyte of zip-compressed data from the network, decodes and parses the data, and finally modifies a shared reference (append data to a container, etc.) before releasing the lock. The one important difference is how the different approaches behave in presence of congestion.Ī well-designed system normally has low or no congestion (this means not all threads try to acquire the lock at the exact same time). It is a common misconception that spinlocks or lock-free algorithms are "generally faster", or that they are only useful for "very short tasks" (ideally, no synchronization object should be held for longer than absolutely necessary, ever). How they behave in presence of congestion This may of course mean that a few milliseconds pass before your thread is scheduled again, but if this is no problem (usually it isn't) then it can be a very efficient, CPU-conservative approach.ģ. If a semaphore cannot be acquired, it blocks, giving up CPU time to a different thread that is ready to run. Also, for realtime applications it may not be acceptable to block and wait for the scheduler to come back to them at some far away time in the future.Ī semaphore, by contrast, either does not spin at all, or only spins for a very short time (as an optimization to avoid the syscall overhead). The main incentive for such an approach is the fact that a context switch has an overhead equivalent to spinning a few hundred (or maybe thousand) times, so if a lock can be acquired by burning a few cycles spinning, this may overall very well be more efficient. This means that acquiring a spinlock is a "busy" operation that possibly burns CPU cycles for a long time (maybe forever!) while it effectively achieves "nothing". It works by repeatedly querying and/or modifying a memory location, usually in an atomic manner. Insofar, one can consider a lock a special case of a semaphore with a maximum value of 1.Īs stated above, a spinlock is a lock, and therefore a mutual exclusion (strictly 1 to 1) mechanism. Usually, this means code that modifies some data shared by several threads.Ī semaphore has a counter and will allow itself being acquired by one or several threads, depending on what value you post to it, and (in some implementations) depending on what its maximum allowable value is. Usually, but not necessarily, spinlocks are only valid within one process whereas semaphores can be used to synchronize between different processes, too.Ī lock works for mutual exclusion, that is one thread at a time can acquire the lock and proceed with a "critical section" of code. A semaphore is a generalization of a lock (or, the other way around, a lock is a special case of a semaphore). See User Agreement for details.Spinlock and semaphore differ mainly in four things:Ī spinlock is one possible implementation of a lock, namely one that is implemented by busy waiting ("spinning"). Looking for easy to print activities, and inexpensive problem-based challenges? Make sure to save your next huge cardboard box!! This made for a very fun weekend morning activity. It’s a great engineering project for families to do together. There you have a pretty simple cardboard rocket ship for the kids to enjoy! I wish I had more exact instructions, but I think there is enough here to get you started with your own cardboard box rocket ship. You also, unlike my husband, may want to put down newspaper or drop cloth. Make sure to do this part in a well ventilated space. This makes a cool cardboard rocket ship as is, but why not spray paint it silver! A quick trip to the local hardware store and a couple of coats of silver spray paint. Make sure to also reinforce with tape! Give your rocket ship a window to let light in. All pieces are securely taped to the rocket.Īdd a porthole on the top as well. One large triangle bent in half and a smaller triangle cut to fit the bottom. My husband didn’t stop there with his rocket ship box! He added 3 dimensional fins which he fashioned from leftover cardboard. You can seal it how you wish, but it’s a good opportunity to use up leftover cardboard. As you can see in the above let photo, the top is still open. Reinforce all edges that have been cut and tape up any holes that you might find around the cardboard box. My husband left a space above the ground and cut out a semi-circle. That just won’t work out well!Įvery rocket ship needs a door. Of course you wouldn’t want to climb or sit on top of your cardboard rocket ship. This will end up being stronger than it looks. Reinforce with painters tape or duct tape. make sure to save the triangular pieces you cut off. My husband angled the top four panels in towards each other to make the nose for the cardboard box rocket ship. Use this fun cardboard rocket ship as a part of our outer space theme! Check out all our space activities for kids here. Pretend you are an astronaut or simple relax and read a book! The system is designed to be fully and rapidly reusable. I SAID NO WAY that huge cardboard box stays!Ĭheck out the photos below. The delivery guy said he could take the box away. Our box came courtesy of our brand new outdoor patio set. Obviously, the first step to building your very own cardboard rocket ship is to actually have a large cardboard box. I had never even thought to show how we made it since I didn’t take a ton of pictures, but I think the pictures will give you a decent starting point for creating your own cardboard box rocket ship! We love simple STEM projects! DIY Cardboard Rocket Ship for Kids The best thing about this cardboard box rocket ship is that we have had it for over a year and a half! This cardboard rocket ship is pretty tough and has withstood very energetic little boys. Redesigned from the ground up, Swift has been reimplemented to improve performance. Because I'm always nervous that ClipMenu will break, I hope this review will motivate Cop圜lip developers to step up and 'copy' the versatility of ClipMenu because a capable clipboard manager is an essential operating feature for me (and I think anyone that bothers to use it a while will surely then be spoiled). Just press ctrl + space and clipger will open in a Spotlight like floating window and let you search through your clipboard history. CopyLess 2 is a Mac clipboard manager that extends your clipboard. Finally, that amazing little app hasn't been updated since 2014 but still works flawlessly up thru at least Catalina (I haven't upgraded to Big Sur but expect it will continue working well). It records your clipboard history of copied text, images, links, and screenshots, etc. The freeware organizes the content into a convenient user interface that is easily accessible with a hotkey set, right-click, etc. A powerful clipboard manager for turbocharging your daily workflow. I have Copy Clip and you don't! Me stupid? What took YOU so long to finally get here?Ĭop圜lip functions fine as a basic clipboard manager BUT it still doesn't work as well as the similar free ClipMenu app which has very useful "Snippets", "Shortcuts" and "Actions" (all very useful but the user doesn't have to bother because they don't complicate the interface or basic usability) plus configuration of almost everything imaginable, from the menu bar icon choice to what types of files may be clipped to the quantity of clipped items stored to subfolders on the menu etc etc. ArsClip is a free feature-filled clipboard management tool that lets you copy multiple images and text files at the same time. My astoundment stems from my totally forgetting about thse college days when in a matter of seconds, a twety-nine page research paper could be gone with no chance of retrieval all because I copied to clipboard, deleted one graphic from the paper, accidentally copied a second graphic to the clipboard and POOF!! - 29 pages gone forever. It is like I no longer write, create or design in fear of losing stuff. To install: brew install jumpcut It’s also a common feature in applications like Alfred (as noted by Lauri Ranta), LaunchBar and Keyboard Maestro. Manages your clipboard history just fine. No kidding! My copy clip is set to temember the last 80 items I copied to clipboard. If you just want clipboard history, check out Jumpcut. I was simply astounded when I was asked to do a review for Copy Clip! The invitation took me back to a time "pre- CC" when I didn't have the ability to see any history of my clipboard, let alone the power to go back and paste a clipboard item that I copied to the clipboard but have copied 79 items since. The only people I see using Bitwig are hobbyists and people PAID to use to Bitwig. I hate to say it, but there is a reason that the big guys haven't switched to Bitwig. You are paying way more than Live Suite over the course of 4-5 years which is the life cycle of a version of Live and you're not even getting some basic features that kind of break the system for most music makers. there are definitely certain features about Bitwig that are better like multi screen options, multiple projects open at one time, (although in Bitwig I've found that taking clips from one project into the next creates weird glitches and even Bitwig support did have an answer). You can't just crop a sample from an audio recording. It's always slightly off time in Bitwig and then you have to spend a bunch of time getting it to just the right moment. Recording and splicing audio is so much more clean and simple in Ableton. It's stupid simple, but game changing features that Bitwig doesn't or they just make it time consuming where in Ableton it takes less than half a second. The Index is far more efficient and gives upwards of 100k credits. Survive till wave 5, then rinse and repeat. However, beginners have to run extraction missions on Ceres which give 20k credits plus change. Survive the clock, and you make back double the amount. The Index is a sort of sports arena where you bet a certain amount of credits and faces an onslaught of enemies. Ceres is close by, while Neptune is a bit farther off.Ĭredit farming is most efficient on Neptune when you finally gain access to the Index. There are two locations in the Warframe star chart where players go to farm credits(another currency in Warframe), Ceres and Neptune. Some planets on the start chart are more critical than others. It will take nearly about 100 hours if you plan to complete every node, but only 50 hours if you make a beeline for the junctions. You don’t need to play every single node on a planet in order to open junctions. The missions get more challenging, and the enemies get tougher as you progress further into the star chart. They are supposed to be guarding the junction, and the path to the next planet will open once you defeat them. Once you’ve completed all the required missions, you can travel to a junction where you’ll face an enemy Warframe. In order to gain access to the next planet, you’ll have to complete a series of missions like collecting a certain number of mods or killing specific enemies. Junctions are like paths that connect one planet to another. Before you jump from one planet to another, you’ll need to unlock it by visiting the Junctions. There are 14 different planets in Warframe, of which three contain a dedicated open world environment. The very first thing about Warframe star chart clearing is junctions. So, without further ado, let’s get started! Junctions Wherein lies the true essence of warframe. It gives you access to the real endgame content. Some veterans comment that the game only begins when you finish the stat chart, and they are not wrong. So, you’ll need to complete the star chart if you want to access the endgame content, and there is a lot of it. The start chart also helps with farming XP, credits, and other resources required to craft other warframes and weapons. You can enjoy the game without completing the star chart, but you’ll end up missing out on the main story. Jumping straight in, the star chart is a vast collection of planets and other points of interest that you can travel to while playing the game. You should feel this in your upper back, shoulders and neck. Gently lift the fingertips slightly out and up. Connect your hands together in front of your face.
